Notice on the Adjustment of Visa and Legalisation Application Process

More cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed recently in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. In an effort to prevent and control the spread of coronavirus and as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all applicants, the Consular Office of the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago is now cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis and hand sanitiser is provided for the applicants. In effective from today, further measures are taken to ensure that the Consular Office is coronavirus-free. They are as follows:

1. The opening hours of the Consular Office remain unchanged. Consular officers will wear masks and disposable gloves while receiving applications.

2. If applicants feel unwell, especially with symptom(s) like fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc. or if applicants have had close contact with someone confirmed with COVID-19, or if applicants have just returned to Trinidad and Tobago from abroad recently, please do not visit the Consular Office of the Embassy. Moreover, wearing face masks when coming to the office is recommended. Full cooperation with the consular officers is required.

3. It is recommended that visa or legalisation applications be submitted at a later time, unless the applicants are in an urgent need of these documents.

4. If an applicant does need to apply for a visa or get documents legalised, please make an appointment by sending an email which includes the document type, applicant's name and contact number to chinaembtt@gmail.com. After getting a confirmation email, the applicant may come to the Consular Office to submit applications with the confirmation email. An appointment can also be made by calling 1-868-6221832 during 8:30-11:30 and 14:00-16:00 on weekdays.

5. Applicants with confirmation email or with consent of the Consulate Officers at site are allowed into the Consular Office. Minor applicants can be accompanied by ONE legal guardian only.

These temporary measures may cause inconvenience to applicants. The Chinese Embassy does appreciate the understanding and cooperation of all applicants. Further notice will be made when relevant arrangements are to be adjusted.
