Ambassador Song Yumin Hands Over Medical Supplies to Contain COVID-19 Donated by the Chinese Side to Tobago House of Assembly

On June 2, the hand-over ceremony where medical supplies to contain COVID-19 donated by the Chinese side to Tobago House of Assembly was held at the Chinese Embassy. Present at the ceremony were H.E. Song Yumin, Ambassador of China to Trinidad and Tobago and Assemblyman Joel Jack, Deputy Chief Secretary of Tobago House of Assembly.

Ambassador Song noted that since the outbreak of COVID-19, Trinidad and Tobago and China have worked together and helped each other, with the friendship between the two countries becoming stronger and deeper. The Chinese side attaches great importance to deepening exchanges with Trinidad and Tobago at various levels. It enjoys the exchanges and cooperation with Tobago House of Assembly in various fields. China is willing to provide more support to Tobago based on the exchanges at provincial and city levels and help Tobago achieve scale-up development.

On behalf of Tobago House of Assembly and Tobago people, Assemblyman Joel Jack extended sincere thanks to the Chinese side. He noted that the donation will be of great help to Tobago in fighting against the epidemic. Over the years, China has been giving all sorts of support and help to Tobago. Projects including hospitals and fire stations contracted by Chinese enterprises will play an active role in the development of Tobago. Tobago House of Assembly is looking forward to further deepening cooperation in traditional and emerging fields including tourism, infrastructure, human resources and information technology after the epidemic is over. It is ready to make greater contributions to the bilateral relations.
